Our 2016 trip will include 3 days of guided fly fishing on the San Juan River at the Navajo Dam in Northwestern New Mexico. For those not fishing we will have 3 days of Sight Seeing, a Shopping trip to Durango, Colorado, and a Spa Day at the world famous Pagosa Hot Springs in Pagosa Springs Colorado.
The Second half of the trip will be filled with trips to Historic Mesa Verde, Aztec Ruins in Aztec, New Mexico, and a full day at the Totah Native Arts Festival and Navajo Pow Wow in Farmington, New Mexico.
We begin our Old West Adventure on at the Albuquerque Sunport on Sunday September 4, 2016.
We board our 15 passenger van and drive north to Santa Fe, where we will spend the afternoon. The highlight of the day will be a visit to the Native American Vendors program on the portal of the Palace of the Governors where local Pueblo and Navajo Indians sell their certified Native produced wares. You will have a chance to bargain (although the prices are already a bargain) for Pueblo Pottery, Hopi baskets, Zuni Fetishes, Navajo Silver and Turquoise jewelery, and Navajo Rugs. One of the great things about this market is that the artists get to keep all of the profit from their sales
We will have an early dinner at Cowgirls Barbecue then depart Santa Fe for our headquarters for the trip in Pagosa Springs Colorado.. We will have an early night for those who want to rest up for the busy schedule for the rest of the week.
On Monday our day begins for the flyfishers with an early breakfast at 6 a.m. in the Presidential Suite at Teal Landing. We then drop you off at the City Market where our fishing guides will meet us and transport us to the Navajo Dam in New Mexico. There you will buy your 3 day New Mexico Fishing License. You will have lunch on the water with your guide. After a full day of fishing some of the greatest waters in the world we will return to Pagosa Springs to prepare for a hearty dinner at Boss Hoggs Restaurant.
The ladies day begins with Breakfast at 8 a.m. in the Presidential Suite at Teal Landing. Then we will depart for the Fred Harman Art Museum (the only museum in America dedicated to a Western Comic Book character) We then head for a tour of beautiful Pagosa Springs with its turn of the century architecture. We will also take a view of the World Famous Pagosa Hot Springs, and the San Juan Historical Society Museum. At noon we will have lunch at Kips Grill, then take the Historic Downtown Walking Tour. We then board the bus for a short ride to the Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park where we will see animals from the local area who have been rescued and rehabilitated but are not able to be returned to the wild. It is a fascinating opprotunity to see Mountain Lions, Bears, Bob Cats, Porcupines and many other indigenous species. We end our afternoon of sight seeing with a driving tour of the Blanco River Basin Photo Tour. Here you will see one of the most beautiful and scenic areas of Southwestern Colorado. Then it's back to the hotel for a couple hours free time to enjoy the pool or hot tub, or take a nap before dinner at Boss Hoggs Restaurant.
