Thom Faircloth is an historian, journalist, author, and travel guide with experience in all inclusive trips to Germany. As a former President of the Germanna Foundation, Thom put together many trips to the home villages of the ancestors of the 18th Century Germanna Colonists in North Rhein Westphalia, The Palatinate, and Baden Weurtemburg.
After his retirement he began to travel and study the ancient Native American Indian cultural sites in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona. This travel and study brought about the seed for Old West Adventures.
Thom has been an avid fly fisherman for more than 30 years. He has fished all over the U.S. and in Germany. He fished the waters of Montana before the Whirling Disease epidemic, then he discovered the magnificent San Juan River in Southwestern Colorado and Northwestern New Mexico. Though he grew up fishing the waters of the Blue Ridge and Great Smoky Mountains he really gets a charge out of fishing the big waters of the Western United States.
Captain Scott Taylor and his team are our fishing guides. Scott comes to us with an extensive background in both fresh and saltwater fishing.
Here are Scott's own words. "I am Capt. Scott Taylor and I enjoy guiding fly anglers of all abilities. I have been guiding since 1990 and have had my Captains Lic. since 1997. Over all the years of guiding, the one thing that still gets me going is putting clients on fish! It doesn't matter if it is Cutthroat Trout sipping dry flies at 11,000 feet in the San Juan Mountains on a 2 wt. rod or sneaking along a tailwater shoreline looking for a big Bow in the water with a 5wt. The cool thing about fly fishing is that the guide and angler work together as a team. Getting the shot and having a client hook up is what it is all about for me."
